This site has some excellent advice on designing web pages.
- 15 Seconds - It might have a funny name,
but this site has loads of information on adding interactive content to
your website. From Excel spreadsheets to XML, you'll find it all here.
- The "No Frames" Movement -
I don't necessarily agree with the views on this site, but it's important to see all
the opinions before you decide for yourself, on any issue.
HTML Sites
- A Detailed HTML Overview - This
site has an extensive list of links on learning HTML, categorized from beginner topics to more
advanced. (Thanks to Terry and Jessa for this one!)
- Krin's HTML Guide - Complete with
appendices and an index, this "guide" is more like a book, and a good one at that.
- A Beginner's
Guide to HTML - A tutorial from the NCSA couldn't be that bad. But seriously, it's a pretty
good introductory tutorial for the beginner.
XML Sites
- XML.com - This site provides basic information about the
language; what, why, etc. Check this one out first if you know nothing about XML.
- XML 1.0 - The second edition of the
W3C specification for XML.

Introduction to XML - A three part tutorial on XML. It goes from the history of XML, to the
basic syntax, and ends off with some more advanced features of XML.
- XML 101 - This site contains a ton of great articles on
some of the very advanced capabilities of XML.
- An XML Tutorial - This tutorial
focuses on character encoding in XML, and shows the differences between the standard used in
XML and the Unicode standard.
- XML Script - This site
focuses on XML script, which is based on XML.
ASP Sites
- W3 Schools: ASP - WOW! This site covers
all facets of ASP. The articles are short and sweet, but they give enough information to open
you up to the power of ASP.
- ASP Tutorial - This site contains some very
good basic tutorials for beginners, along with some sample code you can use.
- Haneng.com - This site contains 23 step by
step tutorials on incorporating ASP into your pages. Very clear and easy to implement.
- ASP 101 - This site contains a ton of great articles on
some of the very advanced capabilities of ASP.
- ASP Resources Channel -
This part of Internet.com's website contains many useful links for ASP related
material.
- ASP Guild - Although this site is just
starting out, it looks very promising.
Java Sites
- Sun Microsystems' Java Site - This one
speaks for itself.
- A Java Tutorial - NOT the
tutorial that can be downloaded from Sun's website, but still quite good.
- Brewing Java - This started
out as a tutorial and ended up as a book, The Java Developer's Resource. The site still
contains the first four sections of the book, which cover the basic syntax of Java, applets, and
classes.
- Java Security API - Information and
documentation on Sun's site about security in Java.
- Java Security Hotlist - This
site contains an excellent collection of papers, articles, and FAQs on various security issues
in Java.
Perl & CGI Sites
- Robert's Perl Tutorial -
This tutorial is a very good introduction to programming with Perl on Win32 systems. It even
tells you how to download it from ActivePerl's site and set it up on your computer.
- Teach Yourself Perl 5 In 21 Days -
This site has the complete book, appendix and all. Enjoy!
- CGI Programming 101 - Download the first six
chapters of this book in .pdf format, and then buy the real thing (it contains 14 more chapters)
if you really like it.
- Perl Tutorials -
This page of perl.com's website contains some excellent Perl tutorials.
- Perl Resources - This
page has some very nice tutorials, FAQs, and recommended books on Perl.
- Perlmasters - WOW! Look no further if your looking
for already made scripts...for anything. If you can't find it here, it probably doesn't
exist.
- Matt's Script Archive - This site has some
proven scripts for you to download, complete with instructions on how to change it properly to
make it work with your site.
Javascript Sites
- The
JavaScript Documentation - Everything about JavaScript you ever wanted to know,
from its creators. (Sun created Java, not JavaScript. One is a programming language
while the other is a scripting language.)

Another JavaScript Tutorial - This is an excellent tutorial on JavaScript. If you've
programmed in other languages before, this is the tutorial for you. Sweet and to the point.
- A Javascript
Tutorial - This tutorial will take you from a high-level overview of JavaScript language
concepts through several useful scripts you can modify for use in your own pages.
- A Beginners Course - This is
NOT just another tutorial. It is a complete interactive course that will teach you
how to write your own JavaScript code and integrate it into your pages.
- A Beginner's Guide to JavaScript - This is
for the real beginner. The tutorial and links are perfect for anyone who's never
used a computer for anything but browsing before.
- JavaScript Source - Go here if you already
know all about JS you want to know, and just want to download code.
- Go-JS Page - This page has
loads of excellent examples of JavaScript scripts which you can learn alot from.
And, if you see one you really like, you can save the code and paste it onto your site.
